Data Recovery
The first and most important step in recovering data from a failing device or accidental deletion/format situation is to stop using the device immediately. Turn off the machine or in the case of removable devices remove them form the system. Continued use of drive or device greatly reduces the chance of recovering usefull data.
Our first step is to connect the device to our recovery center and immediately perform a byte by byte image of the drive/device. Once this is complete we begin our initial analysis on the exact image we've created. This reduces the risk of further damage to the original data during the analysis phase. In the case of large disks or Raid Arrays the Evaluation Fee increase from the base rate to cover the additional time and labour to set up the byte copies and set up a virtual RAID controller to access the array of images.
Here at TheWebStudio.ca we have had success recovering data in various situations including:
- Accidental File Deletion
- Drives erroneously formatted
- Logical drive failure
- Physical drive failure
- Raid 0,1,5,10 Controller Failure
- Raid 0 Drive Failure
- Raid 5 Disk Failure
- Raid 10 Disk Failure
- Flash Memory Cards (SD, MMC, CF, CFII, MS etc.)
- Thumb Drives
- 3.5" Floppy Disks
The current hard drive standards we support are IDE, SATA and SATA II. The file systems we support are FAT12, FAT16, FAT32(WIN98/ME), NTFS, NTFS5(created and updated by Win2000 or XP), Ext2FS, UFS1, and UFS2
We also support the Virtualization of a Broad Spectrum of RAID controllers. Please contact us to confirm your specific models support.
Here is how our service works:
- Evaluation Fee and Effort: Upon payment of a $35 ($150 for RAID) non-refundable evaluation fee, TheWebStudio.ca with offices at 211 Taylor Street East In Saskatoon, SK. Canada (“TheWebStudio” or “we”) will use reasonable efforts to determine whether any data on your data storage device or media is recoverable using our existing technology and processes (which has limitations – not all lost data can be recovered).
Please note that rush service fees may also apply.
- Evaluation Report and Authorization of Recovery. We will inform you of our assessment and a cost estimate for the actual recovery work. If you authorize us to perform the data recovery, we will apply our existing technology and standard processes and use reasonable efforts to recover your data.
(Calculated at $75 per hour for STD. $100 per hour for RAID, with an average single disk logical failure taking approx 3-5 hours).
- Successful Recovery Effort. If we are able to recover data, we will notify you and charge you. We will not release your data to you until you have paid for our data recovery services and costs (including, without limitation, applicable service fees, material costs, new media costs, shipping costs, customs duties, and taxes).
- Unsuccessful Recovery Effort. If, contrary to our assessment, we are unable to recover any data, we will inform you accordingly and not charge you for our efforts. If, contrary to our assessment, we are able to recover part but not all of your data, we will inform you accordingly and you may choose to receive the recovered data for a reduced fee.
- Disposal of Abandoned Device, Media or Data after 90 Days. Any device, media, or data left with us without full payment after 90 days will be disposed of in our discretion; and you release us from any obligation of confidentiality related to the device, media, and data.
