Brian would describe himself first and foremost as a father of three boys and husband to an amazingly supportive wife. He enjoys being active within his community including activity's such as performing duties in the past like serving 2 years as Volunteer Coordinator with his son's Co-operative pre-school and continuing to volunteer and support various causes close to his and his family's hearts. Brian brings with him a mix of formal and informal education in IT and related fields, including the Computer Systems Technology program at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST). Topics of study included Database Design, Implementation and Administration, Procedural and Object Oriented Programming principles, Network Architecture, Hardware and Network Operating Systems and Project Management with a focus on utilizing the various Software Lifecycles.
Various online training seminars and courses have been completed including Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced training through Lynda.com specializing in Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, Flash MX 2004, Dreamweaver MX 2004, Digital Photography and an Audio/Video Integration within Flash tutorial based training among others totaling roughly 1200 hours of informal tutorial based learning with additional time spent on the hands on examples.
As for on the job Brian not only run's thewebstudio.ca successfully but has previously gained experience both in project management as well as important time saving and quality enhancing techniques by working with other designers on a sub-contract basis.
His skills in the networking arena have been brought together through his formal education in Windows, Linux, and Novell based networks including their integration together. He has until recently worked with PC Place Ltd. in Saskatoon as their only onsite technician with on the job experience troubleshooting, upgrading and implementing network solution within the Small Office Home Office (SOHO) and Medium sized business environment. This involvement with a small retailer has also given Brian a strong background in software licensing and educated him in judging the value of hardware components from a quality vs. cost perspective.
Brian is currently expanding his IT experience as a Systems Adminstrator with a local enterprise level company. Brian has also begun the development of a new local FSBO realestate web site, combining his love of web design and his realestate virtual tour experience to create media rich listings. |
